OK, here's the sales pitch:

I am an experienced Engineering Manager and Lead Developer with a strong background in full project lifecycle management, software development, and Agile methodologies.

I have a long background in designing and developing backend systems and API architectures, in more recent years in C#, .Net, Azure and the general microsoft stack.

I am a proven leader team leader and have a history of team building, mentoring, and line management. I pride myself in being adept at building client relationships and being an excellent communicator skilled in cross-department collaboration.

Over many years I have delivered high-performance solutions under tight budgets and strict regulatory oversight.

All true (at least I believe so), most of all though I know how to appreciate a good team and build a strong working and productive relationship with those around me.

Some of the best projects in terms of delivery and team morale have been led by personable people: leaders and managers who work for the good of their team members in addition to the client, and who show a general concern rather than focusing on their personal bonus. In these rare unicorn teams things get done and everyone gets involved. This is the type of team dynamic I strive for - the perfect mindset for delivery and team satisfaction.

Behind the Scenes

Outside of work I have an interest in photography, especially urban photography and documenting my local and surrounding area. I'm no history buff, but something about local history has always fascinated me, I love to see how areas looked years ago and the changes over time.

I collected music for many years and have built up a decent collection of CDs and Vinyl covering most genres but with a particular focus on underground club records from the mid 90s to early 2000s. More recently I've spent far too much time digitising these to copy over to my Plex media server - great for access anywhere, but without the soul of playing a record or hunting out a CD. It's a nice way to discover some forgotten classics though.

I have also dipped a toe into the world of VR with a Meta Quest 3. From a morning aerobic session, to an end of day game of mini-golf or bowling, or just relaxing in a virtual theatre with a film or some YouTube brain-rot in the evening, it's a great way to relax and disconnect for a little while while my other half watches yet another murder documentary on Netflix - I'm not sure if I should be worried about that...
